What indeed makes this film, is how you think you are watching Lucy. OK, others do Lucy, but not as good as this. Not as in depth as this. To me, the rest of the picture is so-so. The others don't really capture Desi, Vance or Frawley. However you think you are looking at the real Lucy all through this, and that sells the other characters. The script takes liberties. Actually Desi told the audience the only thing Red about Lucy is her hair and even that is in question. So this thing with J Edgar Hoover on the phone, I don't see Hoover making that phone call. Not sure how accurate parts of this script are, Still, Kidman knocks it out of the park as Lucy, because from the first scene to the end, you think you are watching Lucy....They miss a great Desi story on Lucy pregnant. Desi said they weren't allowed to say pregnant, but Desi could say, " Specting ". Desi said him saying Lucy was " Specting" was a funnier line anyway. If still on UA-cam, I love Desi on David Letterman. He has great stories, but he sings and tells audience that someday after Castro I hope Americans can again visit his wonderful home Cuba, and he sings, " Why don't you take a wonderful trip to Havana, and I'll see you, in CU-BA." If still on UA-cam, pull that up. Also, I always wished Desi Arnaz could have just once sang and played conga with Carlos Santana and his band, I think it would have sounded great.

Gadsby is great and, yes, a fine mind for comedy. Not the rolling-in-the aisle type of comedy that most guys appear to need in order to understand they are listening to, or watching, comedy. Instead, it's more of a developed taste, like classical music over pop or rock and roll. Each has its place, certainly. Well done, Hannah!
